As part of the Support Services for EU Smart communities, the European Commission has the goal to “Increase Digitalisation Awareness & Readiness of EU Communities”. The aim of this initiative is to support EU communities at the early stages or that have not yet begun their digital transformation journey by providing resources, best practices, and training to develop digital strategies.

The European Commission recently launched an initiative to increase digitalisation awareness and readiness of EU communities, which aims to support all cities and regions that are in their digital transformation process, providing resources, best practices and training for the development of digitalisation strategies.
[LORDIMAS workshop for Spanish communities]
This report is dedicated to understanding the gaps between the supply and demand sides’ requirements for technical specifications and standards in the context of technology procurements. This task was supported by a variety of data collection methods such as a survey, workshops and interviews. These methods granted the opportunity to interact with public (N=46) and private sector stakeholders (N=35) who have vast experience in technology procurement for smart communities.
